Unusual, but an easily grown deciduous tree. Its rounded or kidney-shaped, mid-green leaves turn a spectacular yellow/orange, coppery colour in mid-Autumn. The fallen leaves smell of burnt sugar. It is hardy and best planted on slightly acid soils but it is quite adaptable. This plant is fast growing and it branches out freely, making a superb bonsai.
