Sweet Box collection: S confusa, S hookeriana, S orientalis

The wonderful Sweet Box collection contains one of each plant in a 7cm pot. These plants produce delicate flowers from late autumn to early spring with a powerful honey-like fragrance.

Sarcococca confusa - White Christmas Box (5cm tall)

A lovely evergreen shrub with dark green leaves (also known as the Sweet Box). This plant produces delicate flowers between December and February that have a powerful honey-like fragrance. The heady perfume carries some distance so it is very welcoming in the drab days of winter. The White Christmas Box are easy to grow due to a number of factors; they are somewhat drought tolerant, fairly low growing at 60cm and they even make good shrubs for patio pots where the fragrance can be enjoyed. They are also superb as specimen plants, ground cover or low hedges when established (they can be pruned).

 Sarcococca hookeriana - Pink Christmas Box (10cm tall)

The Pink Christmas Box is a fairly low growing evergreen shrub that will reach a maximum height of 60-80cm making it a perfect addition to your patio pots. The flowers have a strong honey-like fragrance which carries some distance making it brighten up the drab days of Winter. Between December and February, it produces masses of delicate white or pink tinged flowers and its blue fruits are showy from November. 

Sarcococca orientalis  - Oriental Sweet Box (8-10cm tall)

Lovely evergreen shrubs with dark green leaves. It produces delicate flowers between December and February that have a powerful honey-like fragrance. It has wider, glossy leaves and longer pink tinged white flowers. The heady perfume carries some distance making it very welcoming in the drab days of winter. They are easy to grow due to a number of factors; they are somewhat drought tolerant, fairly low growing at 60-80cm and they even make good shrubs for patio pots where the fragrance can be savoured. It needs to be protected from cold winds and hard frosts. They sucker to form colonies and are also superb as specimen plants, ground cover or low hedges when established. Our starter plant makes a perfect present and is ideal for someone who does not mind to growing it a little first before planting it out.
