Crataegus pentagyna is a deciduous shrub that produces an abundance of black or red fruits in autumn which nestle amongst its lobed leaves and spiny branches. Clusters of creamy-white flowers bloom on the Black Hawthorn in June, attracting the bees and the butterflies.
