Xanthoceras is a rarely offered, edible, lovely deciduous shrub, planted mainly for its unique, scented, edible flowers and inflated seedpods (seeds are edible, too!) which dries to a papery texture, but its almost fern-like foliage is also decorative. A drought tolerant and very hardy plant free flowering, in early Summer. 2-3m tall.
