Acer cissifolium is a deciduous, large shrub or tree that originates from Japan. It has ornamental stems and dissected leaves that have a stunning autumn colouration. During spring, tiny yellow flowers bloom in racemes up to 10cm in length which can be followed by characteristic winged fruits. The Ivy Leaved Maple can reach to a height of 3-4m. For optimum growth, it is best to position the shrub in moist but well-drained soil in a sheltered spot where it will receive full sun and partial shade. It can withstand temperatures as low as -25c.
