A fast growing, small deciduous that originates from China, Catalpa ovata is made up of broad, light green ovate leaves that can reach up to 10m in height with a spreading crown. During late Spring- early Summer the Yellow Catalpa produces panicles of white-yellowish bell-shaped flowers that are orange and purple inside (the panicles can reach up to 10” long).The flowers are not only attractive, they are also known to be highly fragrant, attracting the bees. The tree is tolerant to frost, hardy to about -15c and is best suited to be positioned in full sun to part shade.
