Daphniphyllum macropodum, an elegant evergreen shrub or very small tree (2m) with thick, bluish green foliage on red leaf stalks. Purple, pungent aromatic (male) flowers are in bloom during the Spring which are followed by striking blue berries on the female plants. Tastefully exotic, immaculately mannered and with an almost aristocratic lineage. A very ornamental, even architectural plant. For optimum growth, it prefers a shadier environment. The Large-stalked Daphniphyllum can withstand temperatures as low as -10c.
