  • Strawberry Grape (light blue) – Vitis labrusca Isabella: Vitis labrusca Isabella, also known as the Fragolino is a cross between the Vitis labrusca Concord (the coldest tolerant grapevine) and the Vitis vinifera. It is the fast growing, famous strawberry tasting grape which when ripened, the skin is a dark purple and has yellow-green flesh. During the summer from May-June it produces lovely pink new shoots and small yellow flowers that are sweetly scented. When the climber is placed in a hot position against a South facing wall and receives the appropriate growing conditions, large bunches of blue-black grapes are produced. They can be as thick as 2cm and have a musky aroma but taste sweet, used to make wine.
  • Pink Fig – Ficus carica Signora: Very light brown, almost pinkish skinned, but sweet, honey coloured flesh. It is of the medium fruited Spanish variety. It has a very good cold tolerance meaning it is great for the UK climate. Self-pollinating, so no need of the fig wasp for pollination. The fig is a well known fruit, cultivated since ancient times and grows wild in dry and sunny areas. It is mostly cultivated around the world for its fruits but it is also a great architectural plant with very ornamental leaves, plus the foliage turns yellowish in the Autumn. 
  • Large Fruited Pomegranate – Punica granatum 'Wonderful': From the Italian variety, this is a well fruiting and very hardy plant which produces large, red fruits with purple flesh and numerous red flowers. It has a compact habit with its ultimate height reaching 1-1.5m. Any established plants will flower freely on any good soil. It prefers a hot position, for example against a south facing wall but will flower in a good protected sunny position. It is easy to grow and is well suitable for the patio where it can be overwintered.
  • The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
