Pittosporum undulatum (Australian Laurel) is a lovely evergreen shrub or even small tree, although not fully hardy in the UK, it makes a great pot plant. Native in Eastern Australia but planted or even naturalised in many mediterranean countries. The dark, wavy edged leaves gives an elegant backdrop for the fragrant, creamy flowers, which appear late Spring. It also give off a sweet scent, similar to that of the orange blossom. These are followed by showy orange fruits which remain at the end of the branches until late Winter and when opened they reveal numerous showy orange coated seeds. Hardy to -4C or so, it needs to be overwintered in a polytunnel or greenhouse. Ultimate height 2-3m.
- We have lovely, 6-8cm tall starter plants for sale.
