This summer flowering tree can compete with the Cercidiphyllum when it comes to autumn colours: it turns orange, purple and a mixture of caramel colours, late in November. It has slightly hairy leaves and decorative yellow flower heads which open in June. It is at least a medium sized tree but can bear some pruning. Full sun is best, hardy to - 10C. Rarely offered.
