A relative of the Blue Sausage Shrub and the Chocolate Vine, but a climber. Its vibrant violet-coloured fruits are just 3-4cm long. Tiny, deep violet flowers appear early Summer. Sinofranchetia is not as hardy as Decaisnea but can still withstand temperatures down to -7C. Its leaves perish during the winter months; however, the hardened part of the stem tends to overwinter fine. It can grow 1.5m in one year, often covering a 3m tall by 2m wide pergola in a few years. Equally fine if positioned in the shade or in full sun and can be grown in a pot on the patio.
- We have excellent quality, 20cm tall starter plants on offer.
