Despite its prickly nature, Prickly Ivy or Sarsaparille actually is a showy evergreen climber with edible shoots (used as a substitute for Asparagus), beautifully shaped, leathery leaves and decorative, red fruits. An important medicinal plant too. Slow growing to start with, but soon it will completely cover a small trellis, even the ones which can be inserted into a large pot. It prefers a sunny, warm spot, not fussy about soil conditions, as long as not too wet.
We have one year old, 15-20cm tall plants for sale.
