Sorbus torminalis (Wild Service Tree) is a deciduous, spreading fruit tree that has pinnately lobed, broad leaves. The fruits can be eaten straight from the tree or can be used to make jams, jellies and smoothies. During early Summer, clusters of cream flowers bloom which are then followed by small brown fruits. By October, the fruits go soft and resemble to small medlars, the flesh has an excellent, fruity taste.
