Ficus carica Ronde de Bordeaux is a reliable, cold tolerant fig tree that is of the French variety. It has small to medium sized (but a particularly good yielder), rounded, almost black, sweet fruits which mature in September in the UK. The medium shrub is vigorous however it is easy to trim or train to a wall or fence (even to a wire). The Black Fig can be grown in a large container, too. The shrub can withstand temperatures as low as - 15C.
The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
