Punica granatum var. nana - Dwarf Pomegranate

  • An extremely cold tolerant dwarf (miniature) pomegranate, grown for ornamental interest and its edible fruits. Its orange-red flowers are borne at the branch tips, putting on a flamboyant display throughout the summer, contrasting beautifully against the rich, green leaves. During autumn, the leaves turn golden yellow and leathery skinned, reddish-brown, edible fruits are produced.

  • The very compact, deciduous shrub will grow to a maximum height of 2ft, making it the perfect addition for those with limited space. It can be used as a houseplant (placed in the conservatory or even on the windowsill), bonsai, patio plant as well as on a balcony, adding vibrancy to whatever space you choose.

  • Established plants will flower freely in rich, well-drained soils. It prefers a hot position, against a south facing wall for example, but will flower in a good protected sunny position. We do recommend a light pruning after flowering.

  • We have 8-10cm tall starter plants on offer. They often start to flower in year two, with dozens of flowers in year three.

  • The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
