Acmena smithii (Syzygium smithii) - Lilly Pilly

The Lilly Pilly is a lovely compact small fruit tree, consisting of a wonderful combination of dark green and dark maroon waxy lanceolate leaves. It can be grown in full sun in the garden and it also makes a perfect addition as a houseplant, be it in the living room, home office or bedroom. It not only enhances your interior, but it also helps purify the indoor air too. It has been proven that adding greenery brightens up indoor spaces and also has mood-boosting qualities! This small tree provides a fantastic array of colours that can be enjoyed all year round. From late spring, fragrant, white pom-pom flowers appear, followed by striking magenta-coloured, edible fruits in the autumn. They can be eaten straight from the tree, added to cakes, or used to make jam. Excellent as a pot plant. It is however not fully hardy, so it will need to be overwintered in a frost free environment. Will reach a height of 1-2m tall and is generally not too fussy about soil type.
