Asimina triloba also known as the Paw Paw is a hardy fruit shrub or very small tree with oval leaves that turn a golden yellow in autumn. Late spring, purple-brown flowers bloom which are followed by edible, egg-shaped fruits. The fruit of the Paw Paw has been used as a food staple throughout history. The fruits have a very sweet flavour, like a mango, pineapple or banana and are usually eaten raw. However, the fruits are also used for making preserves, ice cream and other sweet desserts.
