Embothrium coccineum is an upright shrub or small tree with one of the most beautiful flower displays of all outdoor temperate climate trees and shrubs. It features countless, very narrow trumpet like, deep orange flowers that are arranged in terminal panicles on the top of the branches, decorating the plant from June to July. It dislikes any form of fertiliser, only growing well on soil with poor nutrition. The Chilean Firebush prefers to be planted where it will receive semi shade rather than full burning sun. Hardy to -10C, it overwinters well in most years and most locations in the UK.
- We have fresh, growing, 6-8cm tall SEEDLING plants on offer, they need to be kept in their pot, in dappled shade, undisturbed, unfed until August 2024.
