A fairly small, rounded shrub. During the months of autumn, its foliage turns a wonderful deep purple, further enhanced by a vast amount of pink, fleshy fruit pods, revealing orange coated seeds from late October. The fruits remain on the green branches until Christmas. Even once the leaves have dropped, the shrub remains a magnificent sight in any border or pot on the patio. An excellent bonsai subject. A very hardy species, withstanding temperatures as low as -25C. Not fussy to soil conditions.
