An elegant, small tree (reaches a height of 4m) with an abundance of almost horizontal branches. Its branches are decorated with 8-10cm wide, white, or light pink, cup shaped flowers with red anthers – they really do look exquisite! Its leathery foliage puts on a charming display after the flowers have bloomed in April. Interesting orange-red pods hang from the branches in mid-Autumn and its leaves turn a wonderful golden yellow before they drop for the Winter. It prefers slightly acidic soil, and some moisture, if these match, it grows well in the UK. Hardy to -15C, no overwintering issues. It can be grown in a large pot too.
