Taxodium distichum is a large deciduous, fast growing tree but also good bonsai subject (as it can be kept small by pruning) and though this plant can be grown in wet soils and shallow water, it thrives in any soil and grow faster in normal oils. Established plants can grow in standing water up to 60-80cm deep - in such a situation the roots develop 'knees', curious cone-shaped structures that grow above the ground. Tolerates chalk and pollution as well. The pinnately compound leaves look more like feathers than needles, they turn extremely beautiful bronze and copper colour before falling, same colour as its exfoliating bark.
We have 15cm tall fresh starter plants on offer.
