Zanthoxylum schinifolium (Sichuan / Sechuan Pepper) is a deciduous fruit shrub that is very aromatic, originating from Japan and China. Its leaves can be used as a flavouring and the peppercorn-like fruits are used as a spice which has a peppery taste. The shrub flowers from July to August.
