Rarely grown in the UK, yet with its small, upright, well branched habit, Aronia arbutifolia has red foliage coloration is even better than on other Arbutus species as it happens on the whole foliage in the same time. The stunning fiery red and orange autumn foliage colour are complemented by countless red berries. From mid-autumn, they can be made into an excellent jam or can be used to make tasty muffins. The fruits are high in antioxidants. Self-fertile and tolerates a range of soil. The Red Chokeberry branches out freely and it grows well in a pot on the patio in a bit of shade as well.
