Aesculus indica grows to a large tree. The Indian Horse Chestnut is a fine tree with smooth, fruit shells (without spines). Palmately pinnate leaves adds to its value, usually pest and disease free. It blooms from an early age and is relatively fast growing. Flowering occurs some six weeks after other chestnuts, making them popular in parks and on roadsides as their presence extends the flowering season. With that in mind it is good news for the bees too. The attractive palmately pinnate leaves turn a bright orange and yellow in the autumn, creating a vibrant display. The leaves slowly turn a coppery bronze colour. It can be planted on many soil types.
