Ficus carica Ronde de Bordeaux is a reliable, cold tolerant fig tree that is of the French variety. It has small to medium sized (but a particularly good yielder), rounded, almost black, sweet fruits which mature in September in the UK. The medium shrub is vigorous however it is easy to trim or train to a wall or fence (even to a wire). The Black Fig can be grown in a large container, too. The shrub can withstand temperatures as low as - 15C.
