Loncera coerulea var. kamtschatica - Honeyberry

Honeyberry is the ultimate superfruit with a very high concentration of antioxidants and C and A vitamins, often surpassing the nutritional profile of the blueberry.   The plant itself is a vigorous, robust deciduous shrub with simple leaves, budding out very early, yet hardy to below -20C.
Honeyberry is generally considered self-fertile to some degree, meaning a single plant can produce fruit. However, for a high, reliable yield of berries, it is highly recommended to plant at least two together, as cross-pollination significantly improves fruit production. The fruit is an elongated, tubular shaped, up to 5cm long, very flavoursome berry, maturing to dark blue and can be harvested in the Autumn. Lonicera coerulea can also be pot grown on the patio but doesn't mind some shade.

  • We have available, freshly potted 20cm tall plants propagated from micropropagation.

  • The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
