Native to Australia, the Brachychiton acerifolius is a great plant for pots as it is not very frost hardy. In the summer you will be treated to an unforgettable sight, its bare branches are engulfed by masses of scarlet red, bell-shaped flowers. When the edible seeds are removed from their hairy pods on the Illawarra flame Flame Tree, they can be eaten raw, or roasted, very nutritious!
