Codonopsis tangshen is an unusual perennial climber from China, where it is known to be widely used as a medicine. The Climbing Bellflower may grow up to 3 metres in the same season, displaying hanging, bell shaped, green-yellow flowers amongst its bright green foliage. During the Winter, it dies back to ground level and then grows again every year from the roots.
