Kolkwitzia amabilis - Beauty Bush


  • The Kolkwitzia amabilis is an easy to grow, elegant looking deciduous plant that is native to East Asia to Western China.

  • It has a slight arching habit and from May-June clusters of scented, pink bell-shaped flowers (with a yellow throat) cover the branches. When in bloom it is known to make a great backdrop when planted cleverly into a corner and the arched branches are touching the grass.

  • This particular plant is very frost hardy, tolerating temperatures as low a -30c. It withstands atmospheric pollution and is drought tolerant. Full sun is best for its optimal growth and flowering.
