Lindera glauca is a medium sized, deciduous shrub with simple, glossy leaves. The leaves turn orange and a light brown in the Autumn, contrasting well with the shiny black fruits and a perfect food source for the birds. The Chinese Spicebush flowers before the leaves appear at the end of Winter. For optimum growth it is best to position the shrub where it will be in partial shade/full shade. It can withstand temperatures as low as -20c.
