The Half-Dwarf fruiting pomegranate cultivar (or sub species) has numerous lovely red flowers with medium sized, orange-yellow fruits. The Punica granatum Compact has a compact habit with its ultimate height being 1-1.5m. Any established plants will flower freely on any good soil. The plant prefers a hot position, for example against a south facing wall but will flower in a good protected sunny position. The pomegranate is believed to have originated in the area of East Iran to Northern India but has been cultivated around the Mediterranean for so long (several millennia) that its true native range is not accurately known. This plant is easy to grow and is well suitable for the patio where it can be overwintered.
- We have excellent quality, 10-15cm tall, branching plants from tissue culture (cloning) on offer (freshly potted plants). These need to be kept in their pot to fully root in and will be a bushy, lush plant by June, it can be potted up or planted out by July 2024.
-
The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
