Styrax obassia - Fragrant Snowbell

  • An upright, slender deciduous tree that originates from Japan (can reach to a height of 3-4m). It has a rounded habit with simple yet decorative dark green leaves. Masses of white, fragrant bell-shaped flowers bloom in racemes during late spring, early summer. In older trees, their smooth grey trunks exfoliate and can reveal a stunning orange inner later which adds winter interest.

  • For optimum growth it is best to position it where it will receive full sun, partial shade. It can withstand temperatures as low as -15c. An excellent starter plant in a 7cm pot.
