An architectural, deciduous tree with large (2ft long), dissected leaves and equally large, white inflorescences. The young shoots and leaves have an onion taste as well as the whole plant including the roots having an onion smell (best when cooked). It is known to be a highly valued food in China and is rich in vitamin A. It flowers in July. (first photo by Leonora Enkig)
