• Eugenia pyriformis is another very hard to find fruit, originates from Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay where it is sometimes used as a hedge or screen, also street tree. It goes under the common name of Uvaia, we just call it Apricot Myrtle, its fruits being very similar in appearance. Although smaller than an apricot, it produces strinking orange, beautifully sweet, high in vitamin C, edible fruits that hang from the branches. The ripe fruit tastes delicious either when picked straight from the shrub or when made into pies, jams, jellies, and juices. Small, delicate, white flowers bloom several times per year. Great as a pot or patio plant. Hardy to about -4C when established in pot, best to keep it in a conservatory during the colder months. 

• We have small seedling plants on offer, 6-8cm tall with developing leaves. 

• The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
