Eugenia uniflora - Surinam Cherry

  • The Surinam Cherry originates from South America's east coast and is often used as a hedge or screen. It produces beautifully sweet, high in vitamin C, edible fruits that hang from the tree like tiny, decorative lanterns. The ripe fruit tastes delicious either when picked straight from the shrub or when made into pies, jams, jellies, and juices. Small, delicate, white flowers bloom several times per year. Great as a pot or patio plant. Eugenia uniflora is only hardy to 0c, best to keep it in a conservatory during the colder months.

  • We have small seedling plants on offer, 6-8cm tall with developing leaves.
  • The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
