Fortunella japonica is a large spiny evergreen shrub with extremely glossy leaves and thornless branches. You can be treated to clusters of dainty white flowers from spring to summer, followed by orange fruits. The fruits closely resemble that of an orange; however, they are much smaller (similar size to a large olive). They can make excellent jelly (cooked) or can be eaten raw with the skin (no peeling needed). The Kumquat is perfect to grow in pots on the patio, on a windowsill or in a conservatory. A 50cm tall plant may produce 40-50 fruits.
