The Subtropical Flower Collection

  • We have carefully curated a collection of our summer favourites that we believe will add vibrancy to your garden.

  • The exotic Summer Sizzlers collection contains one of each plant in either a 7cm or 8cm pot.

  • Hardy Hibiscus – Hibiscus syriacus (10-15cm): Summer flowering shrub from the Far East, with edible leaves and flowers (they are great in salads). Large flowers open abundantly from late May to August in the shades of pink, white and blue. Our plants are from a white flowered shrub, and although cannot guarantee exact colour, all will give a spectacular, exotic display. They can either be planted in a pot on the patio or planted out into the garden. Easy to grow, drought tolerant.
  • Blue Passionflower – Passiflora caerulea (20-30cm, may be cut back and leafless!): A large, exotic, vigorous, evergreen climber. Showy, decorative flowers with a distinctive structure bloom throughout the summer months (can reach up to 8cm in width). Prominent, egg-sized, orange fruits can appear from late summer through to autumn. It can be used to climb up on plants or objects to create a green screen. The Passiflora grows best if planted against a south facing wall. The butterflies are incredibly fond of Passion Flowers.
  • Lilly Pilly – Syzygium smithii (10-15cm): A rarely offered evergreen shrub with unusual fruits (sweet when ripe) and leathery, dark green foliage which has a purple hint when young. From late spring, beautifully fragrant, white, pom-pom flowers bloom, followed by striking magenta-coloured, edible fruits in the Autumn. Makes an excellent pot plant, however with it not being fully hardy it will need to be overwintered frost free.
