Malus sieboldii (Malus toringo) - Toringo Crabapple

  • A very rare species, also known as Malus toringo, native to the mountains and hills of Japan, Malus sieboldii is an unusual but attractive garden tree, reaching a height of only 3-4m, a great choice for those with a smaller garden. The green leaves on the Toringo Crabapple are bright, variable in shape and often toothed. In the autumn, the leaves turn a vibrant red or orange which creates a stunning autumnal display and makes a great centre piece to your garden. During spring, masses of fragrant, pink flowers are in bloom and when open slowly fade to white. By the end of the Summer, clusters of attractive, pea-sized pale red or yellow fruits are found hanging from the branches.

  • We have excellent quality, 30-50cm tall plants on offer.
