A fast growing but elegant climber with long, narrow, shiny, decorative leaves. Purple, brown, or sometimes green, hairy flowers bloom in early summer, followed by pairs of fruit pods. In some countries, extracts are often used as a herbal medicine for arthritis. Easy to grow as it can withstand temperatures as low as - 15C and isn’t fussy to soil. It can reach 3-4m in height if left to grow, but it can be trimmed and trained easily.
