Pistacia chinensis is one of the best Autumn colour small tree one can have, nati e in China. It can grow up to 3-4m and in November, the whole foliage turns striking red. Moreover, the Chinese Pistacio is fully hardy in Britain. The thick, composite leaves often have a purple tint even by early Autumn. The young stems and leaves are bronze and the flowers are spectacular, red. Female plants will also feature showy, oramge and hay coloured fruits from late Autumn (if seed is needed, a male should be planted around as it is dioecious). It will thrive on any soil with good drainage. It can be grown as a pot plant or a patio plant.
- We have nice, 8-15cm tall, one season old plants on offer. It can grow 2ft next year!
