Our collection is made up of three delightful, glossy evergreen shrubs (each in a 7cm pot) which we believe to be the best plants available for the winter period due to their many qualities. The Sarcococca takes centre stage when most plants start to slow down for the colder months.

Sarcococca orientalis - Oriental Sweet Box (6-8cm tall)

Lovely evergreen shrubs with dark green leaves. It produces delicate flowers between December and February that have a powerful honey-like fragrance. It has wider, glossy leaves and longer pink tinged white flowers. The heady perfume carries some distance making it very welcoming in the drab days of winter. They are easy to grow due to a number of factors; they are somewhat drought tolerant, fairly low growing at 60-80cm and they even make good shrubs for patio pots where the fragrance can be savoured.

Sarcococca confusa - White Christmas Box (6-8cm tall)

A lovely evergreen shrub with dark green leaves (also known as the Sweet Box). This plant produces delicate flowers between December and February that have a powerful honey-like fragrance.  It is easy to grow due to a number of factors; they are somewhat drought tolerant, fairly low growing at 60cm and they even make good shrubs for patio pots where the fragrance can be enjoyed. They are also superb as specimen plants, ground cover or low hedges when established (they can be pruned).

Sarcococca ruscifolia – Fragrant Sweet Box (6-8cm tall)

Sarcococca ruscifolia originates from China. The Fragrant Sweet Box is a fairly low growing evergreen shrub that will reach a maximum height of 2m making it a perfect addition to your patio pots. Masses of creamy-white flowers bloom between late December through to early February and have a strong honey-like fragrance which carries some distance, brightening up the drab days of winter.  Showy, spherical red berries decorate the shrub from November and remain on it all winter long.
