A small, rounded deciduous tree, attractive throughout all seasons. The American Hornbeam’s branches are covered in simple, serrated leaves which are a reddish-purple in spring, a dark green as the season progresses before turning warm shades of yellow and a spectacular orange-red in the Autumn. The blue-grey bark with ridges becomes a wonderful addition the landscape in Winter. Carpinus caroliniana produces catkins of flowers in the spring which are then followed by distinctive clusters of winged fruits.
- We have excellent quality, 10-15cm tall (unbranched) starter plants on offer.
