Elaeagnus x ebbingei is a tolerant evergreen shrub that produces strongly scented flowers as well as sweet and edible fruits that are 2-3cm in length. Tolerating drought and maritime exposure the Evergreen Silverberry can be grown in a container on the patio, making a good bonsai. In September, creamy white, bell shaped flowers are borne which consist of a sweet scent when open attracting the wildlife. The orange-red fruits are very ornamental with a pretty silver marble effect, they are edible raw or cooked (including the seed) when fully ripe as they make a good addition to jams.
- We have excellent quality, 5cm tall seedling plants on offer.
