Punica Granatum Mollar De Elche - Seedless Pomegranate

  • An Orange/pale red skinned fruiting pomegranate cultivar that has soft seed-coats (not developed seeds) in the flesh, making the whole fruit edible. Punica Granatum Mollar De Elche is known to be currently one of the sweetest pomegranates on the market, even the soft seed-leftovers are sweet inside the flesh. Numerous lovely red flowers are produced. The plant has a semi-compact habit with its ultimate height being 1-1.5m. Any established plants will flower freely on any good soil. It prefers a hot position, for example against a south facing wall but will flower in a good protected sunny position. The Seedless Pomegranate is believed to have originated in the area of East Iran to northern India but has been cultivated around the Mediterranean for so long (several millennia) that its true native range is not accurately known. This plant is easy to grow and is well suitable for the patio too. The fruits ripen better if planted against a south facing wall or if kept in a conservatory from mid-August until harvest (except the South coast of England).

  • We have excellent quality, 40-50cm tall, well branched plants on offer.
  • The intended main use of this plant is to grow food for human consumption. We always recommend further research to learn the different ways in which the food source can be prepared and consumed.
