Chimonanthus salicifolius - Willow-leaved wintersweet

  • The Willow-leaved Wintersweet (Chimonanthus salicifolius) is an ultra-rare winter flowering shrub, blooms from early winter. This is a semi evergreen shrub  and most of its handsome, elongated, waxy leaves remain on the branches for winter. The spidery flowers open as early as December, the petals of which are white with a hint of sulphur yellow colouring. A truly rare sight in mid winter! This beautiful species can grow up to 3m in height, but it's not as vigorous as its close cousin the Chimonanthus praecox. On our nursery the young two year old seedlings in seed trays,  withstood temperatures as low as -8C and so established plants should cope with temperatures as low as -15C. Not fussy about soil conditions and a perfect addition to any garden.
  • We now have 20cm tall, two years old, healthy plants available.
