A rounded fruit shrub with simple leaves that turn a golden yellow in the Autumn. Elaeagnus multiflora produces cherry sized, red fruits which are sweet and soft, maturing very early in the season (June) when other fruits are less available. They make a very good dessert fruit and can be used to make preserves and pies. Small, delicate, white flowers bloom from April to May. The Cherry Silverberry can reach to a height of 1.5 to 2m and can work well as a pot plant. It is easy to grow as it is drought and cold tolerant.
