Elaeagnus umbellata (orange fruited) has wider, more rounded leaves than the Elaeagnus umbellata which tend to be evergreen. During the Spring, the Orange Autumn Olive offers clusters of creamy coloured flowers that are of a sweet scent. The flowers are followed by unusual round or flattened, yellow-orange fruits (small bean sized) that are covered in tiny silver speckles. The shrub can yield thousands of fruits when grown in the ground and positioned where it will receive plenty of sunshine. The berries have a sweet flavour and can be eaten when ripe, or they can be cooked and used in jams.
We have strong, 1 year old plants (20-25cm tall) on offer in an 8cm pot.
