Gleditsia triacanthos is a very ornamental tree with Acacia-like characteristics. The pinnately composed leaves are small and golden in the Spring, becoming greener during the Summer. White flowers hang from the spiny branches as well as often curling, very ornamental, flat brown fruit pods (can reach up to 2ft). The Honey Locust can be grown in a large pot either sheltered or exposed but preferably in full sunlight. The tree tolerates atmospheric pollution and salt.
