A small evergreen shrub that is native to North America, Canada and NE-US. It is known for its slender branches that trail along the surface and curl upwards. From June to August, white to pink tube-shaped flowers bloom in clusters. From August through to October the seeds ripen. Dark red, peanut sized, edible fruits are produced which are known to be a super fruit due to it being rich in antioxidants and polyphenols. The fruits can be dried or used for juices, cakes, yoghurts.
For optimum growth, it is best to be planted in dappled and on slightly acidic, moist-rich soil. It is self-fertile and can withstand temperatures as low as -20c. Excellent quality, 20-30cm trailing plant in an 8cm square pot.
