Aesculus glabra is a smaller tree with a somewhat arching habit. It has a spectacular orange, early autumn coloration, one of the earliest trees to turn, from early September. Usually pest free, it has deeply fissured, ornamental bark with fruit that's shells are almost spineless. In May, creamy-yellow flowers bloom. The foliage turns a beautiful orange and bronze in September. The Ohio Buckeye is fully hardy and can be grown on various soils. For optimum growth it is best to position the tree where it will receive full sun or half shade. It can withstand temperatures as low as -20c.
- We have excellent quality, 15-20cm tall starter plants on offer (leafless from mid September to mid March).
